Actually I have already tried the solutions in your suggested links, but to no avail I'm afraid. See if those alleviate the problem if not, count your money and start looking for a suitable audio interface. Thanks for this info Yoozer. I don't know if ACID shows the latency you have right now. Latency can be as low as a few milliseconds more than 10ms and you'll begin to notice. Another reason to get an audio interface (as opposed to a soundcard for movie/mp3 playback and games) is the number of (higher quality) inputs and outputs. you'll get latency (and with a lot of load, buffer issues).

#Acid pro 4.0 asio driver drivers
These usually have poor drivers for audio use - e.g. If it's not a separate card but the outputs are near the USB ports, I think I'm correct). This sounds like a card that's bolted on the motherboard (hence the MB and it came with your computer. It could be that you have simply not installed the ASIO drivers that came with it. If playing the vsti with your axiom is working ok in acid then my best guess is you arent inputting the notes at a short enough note value. I would try recording the notes in realtime instead of inputting them and see what happens. This is a long shot but are you stretching out the grid in order to zoom in? When you first open acid it usually defaults to bar long notes so you will need to zoom in to be able to input shorter note values. I have done some searching around on the net and do not think that it has any ASIO support.but I want to be 100% before I go ahead and order another sound card.does that sound like what the problem could potentially be? My sound card is Sound Blaster Audigy HD Software Edition (aka Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED MB) which came with the Dell XPS M1210 that I am using.

OK so maybe this is the problem, I checked the audio device type setting in Acid and I could not find an ASIO option to select.does this mean that my sound card does not support ASIO?
